Yip Yew Chong

A picture is worth more than a thousand... memories

Using memory, research and imagination, Yip Yew Chong shares stories of a bygone era in Singapore. His art pieces imbue a strong sense of nostalgia for many of us who grew up in this cosmopolitan city, a melting pot of heritage and culture that serves up as our national identity.

You may be familiar with Yip's murals around Singapore but the artist is also proficient with canvas, installation, digital art and photography as well. His first solo exhibition, "Stories from Yesteryear" is an insightful collection of stories Yip experienced and the things he had seen in his youth. If you look at his paintings long enough, the atmosphere is almost palpable.

Take that trip down memory lane with Yip. "Stories from Yesteryear" continues at the Sofitel Singapore City Centre (Level 5, Etincelle) till 31 March 2021. Opens from 10am to 6pm, daily.
