About the event
Cat lovers! Come and join Dee Huang to create a mischievous cat Pastel Nagomi Art painting!
This is an introductory workshop to Pastel Nagomi Art, where you will experience the fun and satisfaction of creating a 15 cm x 15 cm art piece by using your magical fingers.
Some basic Pastel Nagomi Art techniques that will be touched on include:
- Use of basic tools
- Use of fingers to create shapes in drawings
- Blending of colours
- Drawing magical bubbles
- Creating simple paper stencil
In creating this painting, both freehand style and stencil-based methods will be shared. Step-by-step guidance will be provided to realise this painting but you will also have the opportunity to display your own unique creativity on your art piece! This workshop is suitable for anyone, regardless of whether you have prior experience with Pastel Nagomi Art. At the end of this workshop, you will create your very own “Love . Cat” Pastel Nagomi painting!
About the instructor:
Yeoh Dee Huang has a passion for various art forms, such as Nagomi art, pastel painting, Chinese painting and calligraphy. Being an art teacher has always been her dream and this has been fulfilled after she became a certified instructor for Pastel Nagomi Art. Since her first contact with this art form, she has grown to love it because of its therapeutic nature. It is also easy to pick up regardless of your age and your background in art. To date, Dee Huang has conducted individual and group lessons for adults and seniors. She hopes to share this art form with more people so that they can also enjoy the therapeutic and calming effects of Pastel Nagomi Art. Dee Huang is a participant in the LOVE STORIES Exhibition from 12 to 20 November 2022.
Yeoh Dee Huang is a certified Advanced Instructor for Pastel Nagomi Art by the Japan Pastel Hope Art Association (JPHAA). Pastel Nagomi Art is founded by Mr. Hosoya Norikatsu from Japan.
Materials you need:
1. Smooth white paper 15cm x 15cm (Bristol paper or Kent paper) about 160g/m²)
2. Soft pastels (Faber-Castell preferred)
4. Palette/plastic container cover
5. Pencil eraser/mono zero pencil 2.3mm diameter
6. Kneadable eraser
7. Wet cloth/wet tissue, dry cloth /dry tissue
8. Masking tape (12mm or 15mm)
9. Basic Stencil
10. Charcoal pencil, pencil
13. Make-up brush
14. Bubbles stencil (optional)
15. Ruler (optional)
16. Cotton bud (optional)
17. Fixative spray for pastel (optional)
